Author Joris Dekkers was invited to give a speech about Las Vegas during the Casino Summit for Landbased Casinos. Suppliers, Casino Resort CEO's, Advisors and Executives gathered for the event that was held in Slovenia. More than 300 delegates were present at the Perla Hotel in Nova Gorica to assess the state of the industry in 2025.
Author and Director of The Las Vegas Book, Joris Dekkers, gave a speech about the History of the Las Vegas Strip, in particular on the resort development from the early fifties to the modern age. Dekkers addressed The Flamingo, being the first luxurious casino resort on the Las Vegas Strip, the coming of Caesars Palace as the first integrated resort, and then went on to describe Steve Wynn's journeys with The Mirage and last but not least, Wynn Las Vegas.
Dekkers also spoke about the Miami Fontainebleau of the 1950's, which formed the blueprint for both Caesars Palace, as well as various other resorts in the 50s and 60s in Las Vegas (The Riviera, among others, resembled many elements of Joe and Ben Novack's Fontainebleau resort)
Afterwards, Dekkers signed a couple of the Las Vegas limited edition books for those who purchased a copy.
